Two of the most common disputes in a repair shop are "the screen was already cracked" and "I never picked it up looking like this". RepairNode lets you settle both before they happen — attach photos at any point during the job, and capture the customer's signature at drop-off and pickup.

Repair photos

Photos live on the repair detail screen. Each photo has:

  • A category — Before, During, or After — so the gallery sorts itself meaningfully.
  • An optional caption.
  • A file size, used by the dashboard storage card.
  • A pointer to the original image stored in app-private storage.

Adding a photo

  1. 1
    Open the repair detail
Tap any repair from the list or the dashboard.
  2. 2
Open the action sheet → Add Photo
You will be asked to pick from camera or gallery.
  3. 3
    Pick a category and caption
Choose Before, During, or After. The caption is free text — keep it short.
  4. 4
    Save
The photo is copied into app storage and immediately appears in the photo gallery card.

Captions and categories

Tap any photo to open the lightbox. From there you can edit the caption, change the category, or delete the photo. Deletes are immediate and cannot be undone — but if you have cloud backup enabled and the photo was already uploaded, you can recover it by restoring from a recent backup.

Signatures

RepairNode supports two signature events per repair:

  • Drop-off signature — the customer signs to confirm the device condition and quoted cost when they leave it with you.
  • Pickup signature — the customer signs to confirm they received the device back in working order and have paid the balance.

Each signature is stored as a base64 PNG inside the repair record. They appear on the receipt PDF and on the work ticket.

Capturing a signature

  1. 1
Open the action sheet → Signature
A small picker asks which signature you want to capture.
  2. 2
    Pick Drop-off or Pickup
    A full-screen signature pad opens.
  3. 3
    Sign and tap Save
The customer signs with their finger or a stylus. RepairNode trims whitespace and saves a clean PNG.

Storage and backup

Photos and signatures live in app-private storage on the device. Their combined size is shown in the dashboard storage card with a one-tap cleanup for older items.

If cloud backup is enabled, you can choose what to include:

  • Database — always uploaded.
  • Signatures — toggle in the backup settings. Off by default to keep backups small.
  • Photos — toggle in the backup settings. Each photo uploads incrementally to Google Drive's hidden app-data folder.
